OSS/J is a TM Forum Program that delivers standards-based NGOSS interfaces implementations (OSS/J APIs) and design guidelines for the development of component-based OSS systems. OSS/J technologies provide the foundation for unifying legacy systems and new applications quickly and at low cost.
The OSS/J APIs are multi-technology based and include Java, XML, and Web Services integration profiles. Each integration profile consists of specifications, a reference implementation, and a conformance test suite (TCK). All OSS/J APIs are publicly available at no charge
ARS over OSS/J is the solution if the challenge consists of combining the undisputed power of BMC® Remedy® Action Request System® (ARS) based Trouble Ticketing & Work Order solutions (e.g. Ascom's TTWOS) with the integrative force of OSS/J in a heterogenous business environment.
With its generic approach it allows each ARS based Trouble Ticket solution to be connected to other ARS based Trouble Ticket solutions using the OSS/J Trouble Ticket (TT) API (Java Specification Request JSR #91).
With limitation to the features of the OSS/J TT API it is also possible to communicate with each application, which provides an OSS/J TT API adaptor: thus the solution is not restricted to ARS based solutions
Overview

ARS over OSS/J consists of the following components and services, which enable an IT department to successfully fulfill the task of integrating an existing solution with the company-wide OSS/J infrastructure:
- Client adaptor
- Server adaptor
- Mapping tool
- Setup and operation manuals
- Professional services
Architecture

Client adaptor
With help from the client adaptor each ARS based Trouble Ticket solution is able to create new trouble tickets and distribute them over the OSS/J system to other systems which handle or monitor them.
Server adaptor
The server adaptor operates as the listener to OSS/J events and receiver of trouble tickets. They can then be processed by the ARS based TT solution.
Mapping tool
The mapping tool is the configuration medium, which provides your IT staff with the ability to flexibly map OSS/J attributes to ARS forms and fields. It creates a XML mapping document which is then deployed to the client and server adaptors.
This architecture is together with the professional services of Ascom your guaranty for successfully integrating your trouble ticket solution with the future-proof OSS/J environment.
