Ascom provides alarm systems for new detention centers in Sweden

Gothenburg, October 8, 2009 - Ascom Wireless Solutions the leading supplier of on-site wireless communications, strengthens its leading position in the correctional market by supplying personal alarms to the two new detention facilities in Gothenburg and Sollentuna. The order has a value of 5.4 million SEK.

The staff in the two new detention facilities will be alerted and receive text messages directly to their mobile handsets with Ascom’s personal alarm system. The alarm also includes positioning, allowing the central guard as well as other staff to see where the alarm is located.

- The positioning service creates a safer working environment as personal resources are gathered more quickly and the response on an alarm will be more effective," says Stig Bonnevier, responsible for the security business at Ascom Sweden.

In addition to personal emergency the staff will also be able to send and receive information in their handsets and get other types of alarms, such as machine alarms, door alarms and fire alarms.

The system will be installed at the two detention facilities by the end of the year and put into service in 2010. The order has been signed by Ascom’s partner Saab Security.
