Ascom Network Testing Wins Market Share Leadership Award

Company outdistances competition through its product portfolio, strategic acquisitions and investment in evolving technologies

Mountain View, Calif. - June 2, 2011- Based on its recent analysis of the wireless communications drive test equipment market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Ascom Network Testing Inc. and its TEMS™ Portfolio with the 2011 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Share Leadership. Ascom has emerged as the undisputed leader in the global wireless communications drive test market with a leading share of 38.2 percent in 2010.

With the introduction of Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the North American market, the region accounted for 36 percent of the total revenues generated from mobile network testing and optimization by Ascom in 2010. Further, the company managed to generate 13 percent of its revenues from the Asia-Pacific region despite significant competition from local market participants. Overall, due to its distributed global presence, Ascom enjoys relatively balanced revenues from across the globe, roughly in line with global regional technology investments by wireless operators.

In January 2009, Ascom acquired Comarco WTS, the wireless testing business of Comarco. This acquisition contributed to Ascom's leadership position by strengthening its presence in the North American benchmarking market, through enhanced measuring capabilities in Quality of Service (QoS) and network performance. In June of the same year, Ascom acquired TEMS, the test division of L.M. Ericsson Telephone Co., which provided it with a tremendous advantage in terms of advanced mobile networks optimization product lines, a global customer base, and a geographic presence in 17 countries.
