Ascom sells its Tunnel Communications unit to Comlab AG
As announced, Ascom is systematically implementing its new focus and selling its Tunnel and In-house Communications (TIC) unit, which forms part of the Traffic business area, to Comlab AG, Ittigen (Switzerland), a leading provider of high-frequency equipment with activities in Switzerland, other European countries and China.
Comlab will acquire all rights and obligations of Ascom's Tunnel Communications (TIC) business activities, in particular the fulfilment of customer contracts in progress as well as all relevant warranty and maintenance obligations. Ascom's entire tunnel communications product portfolio will also be transferred to Comlab where it will be continued. All staff in Germany and Switzerland will transfer to Comlab.
This acquisition will serve to strengthen Comlab's market position in Germany and Switzerland, a position Comlab intends to build on in the future. Ascom is certain that, in choosing Comlab, it has found the right partner and thus a sustainable solution for customers and employees alike. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the price.
Riet Cadonau, CEO of Ascom, has this to say: "I'm very satisfied with how this divestment has been implemented according to plan. The sale of these business activities is a first step towards our goal of focusing our portfolio on Security Solutions."
