Volvo Car Corporation selects Ascom IP-DECT
The Swedish firm, Volvo Car Corporation, has decided to implement a combination of Ascom IP-DECT and Cisco-based “Voice over IP” for their new Information and Communication Technology platform. Volvo Car Corporation has therefore concluded a major business contract with TDC, a system integrator and distribution partner of Ascom Wireless Solutions.
The Ascom IP-DECT system will support approximately 10,000 users. Both office handsets and ruggedized handsets with messaging and alarm functionality are included in order to meet the requirements of individual users in mixed environments.
Ascom UNITE, a platform for interactive messaging and alarm handling, will be the carrier of information originating from various systems. Its open interfaces enable interconnection of systems from multiple vendors. This will ensure that the user gets the relevant information on time and irrespective of the location.
“We are delighted that we have won the trust of such an important industrial customer. It shows that IP-DECT is a future-proof communication platform that supports the mission-critical processes of demanding customers like Volvo Car Corporation” says Fritz Mumenthaler, General Manager of Ascom Wireless Solutions.
