DOV - DATA OVER VOICE

Data over Voice (DOV) is a method used for transmitting small volumes of data over two-wire copper lines to the public exchange (last mile). A narrow-band filter is used for coupling the signal in and out in the frequency ranges not used for voice or other services. The data transmission implemented in this way therefore does not in any way hinder other services on the same copper line such as Voice, ISDN, ADSL or call charge pulses.

With the DOV technology used in INFRANET® the data is transmitted in half-duplex with 2400 baud. In principle DOV can be compared with today’s DSL transmission methods, where data transmission also takes place above the voice band.
