The siren remote control is based on a system developed in co-operation with the Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) to alert the population in the event of exceptional circumstances, catastrophes or whenever dangerous situations are expected. They include environmental alarms in the event of incidents at chemical plants or nuclear power stations, alarms in the event of a natural catastrophe following storm or flooding hazards, or in the event of war.

With its expertise in communication networks Ascom is able to offer systems based on public networks (ISDN, PSTN, IP) as well as dedicated networks such as the INFRANET.

The main focus of each system is availability and reliability (low rate of false alarms) while taking the circumstances specific to each individual country into consideration. As a result it provides solutions that are based on different communication media and capable of covering any degree of complexity.
