Ascom is purchasing the Finnish company Tumsan Oy

Ascom is purchasing the Finnish secure communication company Tumsan Oy: With the acquisition of Tumsan Oy, Ascom is expanding its portfolio and strengthening its position for secure communication. Ascom will be fully integrating Tumsan into the Division Security Solutions.

Ascom is purchasing the company Tumsan Oy, located in Helsinki, Finland. Tumsan has developped an intelligent access node for various applications in the field of secure communication. This product enables simultaneous interconnection of different types of speech, data and video networks. The acquisition includes assets, technology, customer projects as well as around 20 highly skilled employees who will be integrated into the Division Security Solutions.

With the purchase of Tumsan, Security Solutions is pursuing its strategic objectives in the secure communication sector. The Tumsan product portfolio will primarily strengthen the position in the Defence market segment but also improve Ascom’s market position in Public Safety and Traffic. By bundling and enhancing the competencies of Tumsan with the skills of the existing Finnish Ascom Fintel Oy subsidiary Ascom reaches direct access to the Finnish market and also creates a hub for the Security Solutions Division in the other Nordic and Baltic countries.

The purchase price amounts to a single-digit MCHF amount with an earn-out potential depending on success on the future of the business performance.
