Norwegian hospital trust awards Ascom Wireless Solutions order worth CHF 2.1 million

Ascom (Norway) A/S has secured a substantial order in a public tender from the Norwegian Helse Bergen Hospital Trust for the supply of wireless IP-DECT systems. The contract is worth around NOK 12 million (= CHF 2.1 million).

Helse Bergen (Haukeland University Hospital) is a major Norwegian hospital trust and employs some 9500 staff. Helse Bergen and Ascom (Norway) A/S have signed a frame work agreement over four years for the supply of wireless IP-DECT phone systems.

The Ascom IP-DECT system will unify and connect all hospitals of the Helse Bergen Hospital Trust. The Ascom UNITE messaging platform operates critical data such as patient signals, text messages, emergency alarms, and positioning as well as medical and technical alarms.

“When choosing the system the focus was on functionality, future-oriented technology, quality, price and delivery reliability. It is important for us that the selected provider has in-depth knowledge of hospital operations. The IP-DECT system will provide a rational, efficient and secure communication between the user groups, with messaging platforms in and between all buildings in Bergen Hospital” says Kristian Brandseth, Project Manager at Helse Bergen.
