Ascom transfers Civil Security business to SITASYS AG
Ascom is transferring its Civil Security business to SITASYS AG domiciled in Berne. This is the last transaction in the announced move to divest the core business areas of the former Security Communication Division.
Effective 31 July 2012, SITASYS AG will take over from Ascom (Switzerland) AG all rights and obligations pertaining to the Civil Security business unit. All 37 employees will be taken over at their existing location in Berne and transferred to SITASYS AG.
Dr. Fritz Gantert, who was General Manager of the Security Communication Division and a member of the Ascom Executive Board until the end of 2011, is major shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SITASYS AG. Peter Monte, currently Head of the Civil Security business unit, has been appointed Managing Director of SITASYS.
Civil Security offers specialized solutions for alarming, command and control and in-house communications as well as emergency call systems for public and private security organizations, rescue services and infrastructure operators. The openTAS platform operated by Civil Security provides the basis for solutions offered.
"The transfer of the Civil Security business to SITASYS is a good solution both for our customers and our employees. This transaction concludes the divestment of the former Security Communication Division, and from now on Ascom will focus entirely on its two divisions, Wireless Solutions and Network Testing, with the emphasis on innovative software and hardware products, systems, solutions and services. As a market leader in two global businesses, Ascom is well-positioned to achieve profitable growth thanks to the underlying positive megatrends," says Fritz Mumenthaler, CEO of Ascom.
