Substantial order for Ascom Security Communication

Ascom Security Communication has secured in a consortium together with the Israeli company Eurocom a substantial order from the Israel Railways (ISR). The contract for the whole project is worth CHF 22.5 million whereof the Ascom part is a mid single-digit million amount.

Based on the Ascom NIS-Rail communication technology, the consortium Ascom/Eurocom supplies a new state of the art passenger information system to Israel Railways. Consortium partner Eurocom Data Communications (EDC) is one of Israel largest private owned communication company and a partner for Ascom with a potential for further business.

The project consists of a turnkey delivery of the overall IT infrastructure, software, installation and commissioning work including the installation of a new information system for the railway stations. The total amount of the project has a value of CHF 22.5 million over the next five years whereof the Ascom part is a mid single-digit million amount.

Ascom NIS is a user-friendly, IP-based emergency call and information system which forms the basis of operational telecommunication and information systems for railway operators. NIS is configured in a customer-friendly way and offers a wide range of communication and security applications.
