As part of the Victorian Government’s four COVID-19 Isolation and Recovery Facilities (CIRF’s), St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM), in conjunction with the Brotherhood of St Laurence, and Launch Housing, established an emergency communications platform within the largest facility to assist people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
To support the facility and frontline workers, the CIRF team were seeking a fully functional, all-inclusive emergency communication platform with integrated Voice, Duress, and Messaging capability that can be rapidly deployed.
The delivery of Ascom’s communication solution included Ascom D81, a rugged IP65-rated DECT handset intended for the most demanding environments with proven telephony, duress functionality, and advanced messaging capabilities. Supported by Ascom’s DURAsuite complete end-to-end duress management offering that empowers actionable duress alarms providing location accuracy to assist the emergency response team.

The facility fitted out by Ascom is operated jointly by Launch Housing and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne who also lead the clinical care.
