Ascom is seeking a candidate for our Project Manager Apprentice program in the US market. Our apprentices receive valuable education and training, gain industry certifications, and join our world-class project delivery team. Our apprenticeship program is completed between 1 & 2 years, depending on prior experience and certifications.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career candidate with leadership ability who is interested in a career in project management with Ascom, or a person wanting to transition from a related field such as Biomedical engineering, into a project management role.

Compensation is standardized at the beginning of the program, and contains defined step increases as specific portions of the Apprenticeship Program Plan are completed and milestone goals are reached. Apprentices receive full benefits during the program. Some travel is required for the position, approximately 2-5 days per month, depending on project and training activities.

The Apprentice Project Manager will engage in a comprehensive training program to learn and develop the essential skills necessary to coordinate and manage delivery of Ascom projects to our customers. The project management process consists of initiation and planning stages, installation and integration, commissioning, and end-user training. The Project Manager will provide leadership throughout their projects and ensure customer acceptance of the Ascom solution or service being provided.

Your days will be filled with…

  • Learning the project management process through self-study courses, formal training, mentorship, hands-on training and personal experience.
  • Becoming familiar with and understanding various sets of project management standards, processes, tools and skillsets, and applying them toward customer project delivery.
  • Ensuring customer delivery projects are properly planned and managed throughout the project lifecycle using our teams’ standardized project process.
  • Applying defined methodology for project management and ensuring milestones and decision points are documented and monitored appropriately.
  • Tailoring a project management approach, from the many skills and methods you’ll learn, to fit your team’s unique skills and ways of working.
  • Managing many concurrent domestic projects of medium to large size.
  • Ensuring a proactive Risk Management approach to each delivery project, including holding internal and external stakeholders accountable for their deliverables, and keeping the project on schedule and budget.
  • Working together with other Project Managers and teams to effectively schedule and best utilize resources.
  • Participate in and support future iterations of our apprenticeship program.
  • Manage customer project delivery in a way that creates “Raving Fans” of Ascom and our Professional Services Team.
