Wireless communications have the potential to radically improve stock control processes. A delivery vehicle, for example, can notify relevant store staff of its exact delivery time—so the right people are in the right place when the vehicle arrives. Handsets such as the Ascom Myco can then be used to track and count stock, while also functioning as advanced phones and alarm and messaging devices.

    An Ascom solution can optimize virtually every step in the stock control chain. DECT, IP-DECT, voWi-Fi and cellular systems give staff the mobility needed for stocktaking and inventory handling—while keeping them securely connected to data, voice, messaging and personal and technical alarms. A single device—the Ascom Myco for instance—even integrates all the features of a smartphone with Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) and barcode scanning functionalities. When teamed with Ascom’s Unite software, the Ascom Myco can be used to distribute barcode data to central systems. Other Ascom handsets can be optimized for retail applications by adding optional scanning functionality.
