Sonitor’s Sense RTLS platform is a high definition, open integration platform powered by SmartZoning™ technology. It is designed for seamless integration through Ascom Unite Connect for RTLS to Telligence™ Nurse Call software and supports use cases across the continuum of care. Sonitor Sense™ combines ultrasound with Wi-Fi and active RFID (125KHz Low Frequency RF). In addition, Sonitor is the only RTLS manufacturer providing a synchronized ultrasound system. Synchronization of the system means that you can have multiple ultrasound location transmitters within earshot of a tag, without the tag jumping from one location to another.

Utilizing ultrasound as its core positioning technology, Sonitor Sense delivers proven room, bay, and chair level resolution. SmartZoning™ technology leverages Sonitor’s state-of-the-art Sense QuadLT™ ultrasound location transmitters and SmartTags™ and SmartBadgesTM for badging people, movable assets and monitoring timed events.

Ultrasound provides consistently accurate locating technology with the fastest update rates.The most important characteristics of ultrasound signals are:

  • Ultrasound does not penetrate solid materials, even transparent materials, such as glass or plastic, unlike IR. 
  • Ultrasound can be accurately measured.
  • Ultrasound reflects off virtually any hard surface with great precision
  • Ultrasound penetrates clothing better than other technologies such as infrared light and therefore is more resistant to signal masking.
