Objective and Purpose

The Program Manager leads and co-ordinates all Project Delivery activities during the project lifecycle of Ascom’s large & international projects. The Program Manager can be assigned to manage a team of project managers and co-ordinate Ascom Service projects consisting of installation, commissioning, on-site training and/or analysis.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Ensure effective and efficient Project Portfolio Management and delivery for Ascom

Responsible for successful delivery of large-scale domestic projects and/or medium sized international projects, incl. quality, time and costs plus benefit realisation for customers

Ensure the development and implementation of all necessary standards, processes, tools & skills required for a best-in-class, leading of projects and project portfolios; this should include, required reviews post lessons learned sessions.

Ensure a proactive, lean & action driven Risk Management for Ascom

Motivate & lead a team of project managers to deliver to the Ascom standards

  • Proactively manage and control adherence by all parties to the Ascom project         delivery process
  • Proactively control scope creep with established change control and variation     management

Ensure high-level of knowledge & understanding of all Ascom products and offerings amongst project managers

Manage Ascom Customer Delivery projects, both large-scale domestic projects and medium to large international project

Manage customer expectations regarding project delivery & monitor and report customer satisfaction, with post service customer surveys

Control overall financial performance and protect project margins with the cost elements (primarily man hours and HW items)

Act as interface to customer & peers to collect information needed to perform and deliver project activities

Proactively practice a solid issue and risk management protocol with established techniques and methods

Establish and drive a solid practice of lessons-learned protocol and conduct post-delivery project analysis

Establish and drive profound quality metrics and monitor continuously during project lifecycle

Ensure creation, review & distribution of all relevant project documentation required during the lifecycle of the project.  This includes, but is not restricted to all checkpoint materials to allow project phasing, handover documentation required by the Customer Care team & any other required documentation according to Ascom’s project delivery process and documentation standards.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • University degree (MSc.) in Business Administration or Technology
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP professional, IPMA minimum level B)
  • At least 5 years in leading and managing complex, large international ICT projects
  • Minimum of 2 years of running a Project Management Office or equivalent
  • Proven track record of successfully leading transformation projects
  • At least 3 years of working in the IT, telecommunication or healthcare sector

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent project and program management skills; capable of managing large        value contracts with Earned Value and other smart cost and revenue recognition    approaches
  • Excellent planning, organising & implementation skills
  • Strong Leadership skills in terms of people management, change management           & capability management
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills, especially communication &          conflict management
  • Strong customer focus & stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in English, both, oral & written
