Real-time Location Services (RTLS) tell you where help is needed — whether it’s an assault on staff, mislaid equipment, or a fallen or wandering patient. That means less time spent searching, more productive use of assets, and of course, safer patients. The function can locate the point-of-origin of a personal alarm, often with room-level accuracy.
Ascom RTLS-based solutions use methods such as Infrared zoning, triangulation and ‘choke-point’ identifiers to locate and track people and physical assets. Applications range from locating the origin of personal alerts, to preventing patient wandering, to managing the movement of high-value equipment items.
‘Nurse Presence’ is another application; where RTLS automatically logs a caregiver’s movements at specified locations. This log can be used as ‘proof-of-care’, and can also be a valuable tool when tracking exposure and infection risks. Whatever the application, RTLS distributes accurate location and tracking data to mobile caregivers.
