Purpose
Responsible for coordinating project performance with the Project / Program Manager and for effective utilization of resources assigned to the project. Contributes to the overall project plan, highlighting dependencies with other projects. Project engineer is responsible for preparing project documents, drawings and ordering material in close cooperation with the project / program manager. In some occasions smaller projects can be fully managed by the project engineer.
Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for ensuring the assigned project deliveries. Engineering of the project delivery, drawing of design of the solution all according to agreed scope
- Identify, resolve, or escalate operational problems and minimize delays
- Analyze project requirements and perform calculations
- Regular visits ongoing projects in order to ensure progress and identify any potential risks and issues
- Conduct project meetings and prepare regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
- Supports project manager in planning resources, ordering material and informing the customer
- Supports project manager in monitoring and managing progress on ongoing & coming projects
- Supports project manager in preparing biweekly project review
- Responsible to close projects within the agreed timeframe including project handover (revision)
Reports to
This position reports functionally and operational to project manager and hierarchical to the head of project delivery segment.
Required Skills and Knowledge
As Project Engineer you should have:

- Basic experience in creating work breakdown structure in order to plan and monitor work activities in projects

- Structured way of working and getting overview over ongoing activities
- Working experience in the IT, telecommunication or healthcare sector / safety & security sector
- Some experience in performing risk management
- Proficiency in English and Dutch, both spoken and written
- Overview understanding of Ascom portfolio offerings and how they create customer values
Required Experience and Education
The following minimum experiences are required:
- Bachelor degree in Technology, Business Administration or IT Technology
- Certification in Project Management (e.g. Prince2 Foundation, PMI, IMPA-D or equivalent)
- 1-3 year as Project Engineer/several years’ experience as System / service Engineer or PMO employee from other company or in Ascom
- Working experience in the safety & security sector
- The following education is required:
- Projecteringsdeskundige BMI
- Projecteringsdeskundige OAI or Advanced knowledge of OAI systems
- Knowledge of Security system, Fire extinguishing systems and sprinkler systems
