Ascom appoints Francis Schmeer as Head of Strategy and Business Development

Ascom strengthens its management team and decided to create a new position of Head of Strategy and Business Development at Executive Board level.

Francis Schmeer is a global executive with a solid track record in strategy and business development in various industries and geographies. Francis Schmeer, who will become a member of the Executive Board, will take up his new responsibilities as of 1 September 2014.

Francis Schmeer will directly report to the CEO and support him in the execution of the growth strategy for the entire Group. In particular, he will expedite the implementation of the identified growth initiatives including the execution of Ascom's defined M&A strategy.

In his previous assignment, Francis Schmeer held the position of Executive Vice President and Head of Group Business Development for the Oerlikon Group. Prior to this, he spent a number of years in the global telecom industry with Samsung, T-Mobile and lastly as Global Head of Strategy and Corporate Development for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications. Francis Schmeer began his career at Goldman Sachs.
