The Patient Flow Conference 2021: Improving for the future webinar

Tuesday 16 Nov 2021, 10:25AM GMT

Ian Binks, Business Development Manager – Global Clinical Solutions at Ascom and Hayley Valentine, Clinical Consultant at Ascom, will be discussing how to reduce pressure and minimise delays on emergency care by streamlining patient flow.

November 3, 2021

There are many challenges contributing to the pressures on emergency care settings. In this session, we will be focusing on the emergency department and the challenges at a hospital level as well as the solutions that we can implement to ease the pressure. We will be looking at three specific issues that increase pressure in emergency departments and cause delays in patient flow. These are:

  1. The unknown condition of patients arriving at the emergency department: Knowing any
patient could deteriorate rapidly causes a challenge in triage and treatment delegation
  2. Difficulty co-ordinating patient care from multiple departments, where patients need reviewing/ assessing from other specialties (ICU/surgical/medical teams)
  3. Lack of capacity for admitting beds, flow issues backlog in ED: How these challenges impact the emergency care services and some available solutions that can be implemented at each of these levels to ease pressure.

This session will also explore what the future can look like with the expansion of existing technologies and new ways of working.
